The much anticipated, and oft re-scheduled fundraising Table Quiz is now DEFINATELY on Friday the 19th April at O’Donnell’s, Mounthawk…..now ye’ve had plenty time for swotting so we’ll expect some high scores!

Le Directeur thinks this guy ain’t bad either….10 years old…second against U/12s on Thursday, third in the Under 12 Race at the Co. Community Games Finals on Friday and third again in the Silver Pail U/12s in Fermoy on Sunday….what will he be like when he is 12? Move over Tomeke Boonen!

The first round of the club league was held on the Tralee - Castleisland Road, with the time trial seeing Ballyheigue’s Tom Brendan O’Connor coming out on top.  On a relatively fine evening (the gale was only a cross wind for most of the circuit) Tom saw off the challenge of Currow CC’s Tom Barrett by posting an impressive time of 29:47.  Tom B. was the only rider to break the 30 minute barrier.  In the youths TT, Eoin Blake of Killorglin CC held off Tralee CC’s Tom Moriarty by almost 30 seconds to take first place in that category.

Twenty eight riders in total took to the road, and with Round 2 next Thursday being run as a road race over the Ballycarthy – Farranfore – Castleisland – Ballycarthy circuit, it looks like the favourites are now identifiable.  Next weeks ‘parcour’ should suit the strong men such as Tom Barrett, Denis and Stephen O’Shea and of course Tom Brendan O’Connor.  Tralee CC would like to thank everyone for taking part, and hope that we will have an even bigger ‘peloton’ for Round 2.
