2012

The first round of the club league took place at Ballycarthy on Thursday 29th March, with a Time Trial to Castleisland and back.  Gerard McCarthy proved too strong for everyone following the calculation of handicapped times, while Tom Ryall put in the best actual time.  Riders set off in the order as listed below, and the times from Round 1 were as follows:

  1. Gerard McCarthy  38:59 minus 8 mins(handicap) = 30:59
  2. Tom Ryall  32:05 minus 1min = 31:05
  3. Martin McCarthy  35:47 minus 1min = 34:47
  4. Dick McElligott 36:08 minus 1 min =35:05
  5. Sean Cooke 36:45 minus 2 mins = 34:45
  6. John Kelly 32:55 (no handicap) = 32:55

 The results from Round 1 were:

  1. Gerard McCarthy – 25pts
  2. Tom Ryall – 23pts
  3. John Kelly – 21pts
  4. Sean Cooke – 20pts
  5. Martin McCarthy – 19pts
  6. Dick McElligott – 18pts

 

 

 

Round 2 of the Club League took the form of a Road Race around the Ballycarthy, Farranfore, Castleisland, Tralee circuit.  The result of the race was as follows:

  1. Kevin Griffin (Tralee BC)
  2. Mike Leahy (Tralee BC)
  3. Tom Barrett (Currow CC)
  4. Pat Breen (Currow CC)
  5. Dick McElligott (Tralee CC) + 25 pts
  6. Mikey Moriarty (Tralee CC) + 23 pts
  7. Darragh Looney (Currow CC)
  8. J.P. O’Connell (Tralee CC)  + 21 pts
  9. Sean Cooke (Tralee CC) + 20 pts
  10. Pete Landy (Tralee CC) + 19 pts
  11. Adrian O’Connell (Currow CC)
  12. John Breen (Currow CC)

 As the compeition is a club league, and the De Lacey Cup is to be awarded only to club members, points were allocated to the Tralee CC riders which took part as follows: Dick McElligott 25 pts, Mikey Moriarty 23 pts, J.P. O’Connell 21 pts, Sean Cooke 20 pts and Pete Landy 19 pts.This leaves the Club League Table as follows after two rounds:

  1. Dick McElligott (43 pts)
  2. Sean Cooke (40 pts)
  3. Gerard McCarthy (25 pts)
  4. Tom Ryall & Mikey Moriarty (23 pts)
  5. J.P. O’Connell & John Kelly (21 pts)

The result of the RR held for Round 3 was: 1. Mike Leahy, 2. J.P. O’Connell, 3. Peter White, 4. Pat Breen, 5. Gerry McCarthy, 6. Kevin Griffin, 7. Sean McCarron, 8. Pete Landy, 9. Darragh Looney, 10. Dick McElligott, 11. Sean Cooke, 12. Mikey Moriarty, 13, John Breen, 14. John Kelly.  This leaves the league standings as follows after three rounds:

  1. Dick McElligott + 21 pts (64 pts)
  2. Sean Cooke + 20 pts (60 pts)
  3. J.P. O’Connell + 25 pts (46 pts)
  4. Pete Landy + 23 pts & Mikey Moriarty + 19 pts (42 pts)
  5. John Kelly + 18 pts (39 pts)
  6. Gerard McCarthy (25 pts)
  7. Tom Ryall (23 pts)

Round 4 took place on Thursday 19th April with a Hill Climb Time Trial up the Tralee side of Castemaine Hill.  The results were (in order of riders setting off) as follows:

  1. Tom Ryall 13:34:25 + 21 pts
  2. Mikey Moriarty 12:58 – 1 min handicap = 11:58 + 25 pts
  3. Tom Shanahan 13:10:14
  4. Pat Breen 14:22:35
  5. Michael Donovan 14:37:40 – 1 min handicap = 13:37:40
  6. John Kelly 12:39:20 + 23 pts
  7. Hugh McSweeney 15:15:88 - 1 min handicap = 14:15:88
  8. John O’Dowd 13:29:16
  9. Jerry McCarthy 12:53:18
  10. Kevin Griffin 12:52:60
