Both Mikey Moriarty and Billy Casey made their competitive race debuts for the club on Sunday at the John Drumm Race in Currow. Mikey, although a junior, raced with the A4s’ in the senior event. Mechanical trouble played its part in a premature retirement, but he was showing very well after a tough first lap of the ten mile circuit. High winds, and a strong field were always going to make this a hard race to compete in. Billy Casey got the show on the road in the Under 12 race with a very creditable 9th place. A neutral start was anything but neutral as the field charged across the bridge and up the hill. Riders from Fermoy, Kanturk and Limerick CC were to the fore, but Billy came in ahead of a number of riders from these well established Youth orientated cycling clubs. Both Mikey and Billy performed well, and hopefully this is a stepping stone to success in the future. Well done to both of you!!!
