Well done to Gerard McCarthy who took full points for Round 1 of the Club League on Thursday last.  This round saw the riders Time Trial from Ballycarthy Roundabout to Castleisland and back to Tralee.  Well done also to Tom (Ryall…not Boonen) who set the fastest actual time.  (If anyone knows Tom Boonen they can send on our congrats for Flanders also!)

The times from Round 1 were as follows:

  • Gerard McCarthy  38:59 minus 8 mins(handicap) = 30:59
  • Tom Ryall  32:05 minus 1min = 31:05
  • Martin McCarthy  35:47 minus 1min = 34:47
  • Dick McElligott 36:08 minus 1 min =35:05
  • Sean Cooke 36:45 minus 2 mins = 34:45
  • John Kelly 32:55 (no handicap) = 32:55

The results from Round 1 were as follows:

  1. Gerard McCarthy – 25pts
  2. Tom Ryall – 23pts
  3. John Kelly – 21pts
  4. Sean Cooke – 20pts
  5. Martin McCarthy – 19pts
  6. Dick McElligott – 18pts

Saturday saw some of our members taking a leisurely spin up Conor Pass.  Unfortunately some, who were supposed to be there on the day could not make it, following Friday nights revelries.  The first pic shows how the tired and emotional riders looked at the top of the pass.  The second pic shows what Sean WOULD have looked like, if he had not been ‘tired and emotional’ when he woke up on saturday morning.

Well done to John Kelly, who represented the club at Fermoy’s annual race on Sunday 1st April.  Unfortunaltely John took a tumble in the sprint finish, so here’s wishing John (and his bike) a speedy recovery.
